MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage)

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a light pressure modality - just enough pressure to stretch the skin (no oil used) without moving the fascia underneath.  It was developed in the 1930's in Europe by Dr. Emil Vodder to stimulate lymph fluid movement, reduce edema, and boost immune system.  It uses very light, rhythmic, skin stretching technique (four core strokes) to move lymph toward functioning lymph nodes.  The technique works WITH the skin not ON the skin.  As no oils are used, it is completely safe even for those with sensitive skin.

The technique has a very powerful relaxing and calming effect on the nervous system.

MLD renews, nourishes, strengthens, and regenerates the cells, helps remove waste products, relaxes the nervous system and activates immune system.

It is beneficial in many chronic conditions:

  • Pain - joint swelling, muscular pain, RA, OA migraines, chronic headaches

  • Skin - cellulite, aids in weight loss

  • Fluid retention - swollen feet and ankles, puffy eyes or face

  • Respiratory conditions - sinusitis, nasal congestion

  • Immune conditions - recurring colds, recurring inflammation and infections, allergies, autoimmune disorders

  • Digestive conditions - chronic constipation, flatulence, bloating,

  • Stress

  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

  • Fibromyalgia/ME

  • Post plastic surgery - it reduces pain, bruising and swelling

  • Post operative inflammation - it reduces inflammation, bruising and prevents scarring

  • Post traumatic events  (accidents, sport injuries, etc) - it reduces swelling, pain, bruising and inflammation

We are certified in Dr Vodder method technique by ACOLS (Academy of Lymphatic Studies)
